Dot Shop was commissioned by Tate Kids with the aim of creating an engaging online application viewable on multiple devices, tying in with the Roy Lichtenstein exhibition at the Tate Modern.
The site lets you manipulate images and apply dots on top of them, along with changing various properties of the image, such as hue or saturation. Essentially it’s a way to create your very own comic panel in the style of an artist like Roy Lichtenstein.
It’s very easy to use. First you upload a photo of a face and ‘Dot Shop’ turns it into a dot art-style image. You can then play with various settings, such as the size of the dots and the brightness of the picture, to get it to look just how you want it.
The site was built in HTML5 and the GreenSock Animation Platform (GSAP) EaselJS..
